DevilDriver at The Garage
16 October 2009 – Tonight I photographed DevilDriver at The Garage. It was the first time I had seen them but my friends love them and I was excited to go to the show with them and shoot a few pictures.
It was also my first time at The Garage which has recently re-opened and it was a lot smaller than I had thought. This is never a bad thing because the show was intimate and the crowd was definitely feeling it. I made my way to the SMALLEST photo pit ever and straight away I could see that the night was going to be interesting because about 70% of the crowd at the front was either bleeding or had blood on them. Crazy. I spoke to the bouncer and just asked him if I was going to be annihilated tonight and he just said that when he taps my shoulder I must duck and cover my face. That sounded exciting and I have NEVER been told that before but he was super cool and not once did I get kicked in the face like the other people I saw.
The lighting was not great at all from the pit and we were told that there is no chance in hell that they would bend the “no flash” rule so I stayed put in my corner to make sure I was safe and then just shot a few photos when the lights actually came on. It was a very cool show though and these are just a few of the shots that I took.
