26 August 2010 – Tonight I photographed the guys from Thrice playing at Electric Ballroom in Camden Town.

It was one of the shows I had been looking forward to for ages because I shot with them earlier this year as they supported Brand New at Wembley Arena and the show was incredible but unfortunately Teppei wasn’t able to join them on tour and he plays such a big part in the band so I had to see him with the band.

The show was amazing and the setlist perfect. Unfortunately the lighting was really difficult to work with but I still had a lot of fun working on this one anyway taking photos while tapping my feet. Haha.

These are a few of the ones I like. I shot portraits with the guys before the show which I will post at a later stage when they have been released.

Make sure to watch these guys if they play in your town or any town that you can make it out to. It will definitely be worthwhile.

25 August 2010 – Tonight I photographed the guys from Lostprophets playing a super full show at Shepherds Bush Empire.

It’s been a while since I shot them last and I forgot how “die-hard” some of the fans are and it slapped me right in the face from the second the set started, but in a good way. The crowd definitely take in everything that the guys give off and the feeling is always a good one.

Lighting was really hard to work with and the security guys were extremely stubborn on negotiating the use of flash but everyone working in the pit made a plan to just take over and work together. It worked but it took me about a song and a half before I gave in to the stand. Flippen stupid rules that no one understands. Haha.

These are a few of my shots that I was able to take in the chaos.

24 August 2010 – During my time in studio with the guys from We Are The Ocean we made some time to scout a few locations so that we could shoot some new portraits that they would use for the promotion of the re-release of Cutting Our Teeth.

As always I loved working with these guys and we had a super cool time exploring the surroundings to find some suitable back drops. The guys are super nice and although I am a big fan of their work, I honestly feel after working with them and getting to know them more that I would support them non-the-less just because of what I know.

They have just launched their website and the album will be out soon which is amazing. The new tracks sound killer and I cannot wait to see how the final product is all packaged.

17 August 2010 – I am slowly getting through my work and had to post a few photos of the shoot I had with rapper Jelluzz that we worked together on about 2 weeks back.

As always he was an absolute pleasure to work with and it was great catching up because he has also been really busy with his walk to the top. I have such a strong feeling that Jelluzz is going to explode soon and I really enjoy working with him and just seeing how down to earth and on the ball he is.

A very cool guy in every sense of the word.

He has recently release an album for download called The Green Eyed Monster and it is currently free to get a hold of so make sure to check out his site and get yourself a copy of that. It’s a cracker and has some definite classics on there.

29 July 2010 – Tonight We Are The Ocean played a super small intimate show for free at the upstairs part of The Garage and it was a rocker.

I knew the lighting would suck (be non existent) for taking photos and that it was going to be really intimate (squashed) to move around and take some good shots but I was just excited to work with the guys again and hear them play their album (Cutting Our Teeth) in its entirety along with some other tracks including my favourite from our time in the recording studio (Get Up).

The night was super cool and the kids in the crowd were going crazy the whole time. I couldn’t believe how much I was sweating and how hot it was but it felt good … it felt real.

29 July 2010 – A few weeks back I shot with the Scottish / Filipino band Rag Rag as they needed a few new portraits for the PR to support their release of Fighting Pride which is the theme song for world boxing champion and politician Manny Pacquiao.

The guys traveled out to The Palms in Las Vegas and The Record Plant in Los Angeles to record the track and it really came out rad. It features vocals by frontman Glen Ragrag as well as Britain’s Got Talent finalist Madonna Decena and a very special spoken word intro by Manny Pacquiao for his home country of the Philippines.

It was good fun working with the guys and we started off our shoot at a boxing studio which was tight but had a good feel to it. The first shot here I lit up the guys from behind and included the lights in the shot with the ring behind to help give them a feeling of “importance”.

Check these guys out, they are doing some really good stuff and are super passionate about it all.

29 July 2010 – Last week the guys from We Are The Ocean were recording some new material at Stakeout Studios and I joined them for two of the days.

I really had a super cool time with the guys and loved watching them work and do what they do best. I have been a fan of their stuff for a while now and got slightly over excited hearing the new tracks being put together and they are definitely going to be accepted well. The guys are also just nice down to earth guys and we shared a load of laughs as well as did some crazy bridge jumping into the Thames river which we filmed and I will post when I get a chance.

Anyway, during the two days I photographed some behind the scenes stuff of their process while making sure not to get in the way of what they were doing and although its quite a hard environment to work with in regards to lighting, it is also one of my favourites just to be in.

Check these guys out if you don’t know them because their stuff is great and they deserve support to keep them doing what they do. In the mean time these are a few of the shots from our time together that I like. The lighting in studio is so different from each room and angle with a mix of cold and warm lighting as well as daylight coming through the windows so I thought that these would be best as black and white.

28 July 2010 – Tonight I photographed OK Go at Electric Ballroom and it was one of the best live experiences I have been apart of in ages.

Don’t get me wrong, I have seen and worked with a lot of incredible bands lately but these guys just made that extra bit of effort to make sure that every single person in the venue felt that they were apart of something special and they really thought out their set to make sure that they had as much variety and surprises to add to the experience and this ranged from things like confetti machines, loads of smoke, lasers, fury guitar decor, led screens, live fisheye footage, bells and and and.

I really loved this set for so many reasons and whether you like this band or not, they are definitely worth seeing live. Amazing.

28 July 2010 – Last weekend I had a photo shoot with the very cool guys from What Now for them to use to assist in promoting the new album that they have been working on.

It was an amazing time working with these guys purely because they were so humble and just a really fun bunch of people to hang out with. They gave me the tracks they have recorded and they honestly sound very cool and it’s a pity that they aren’t fully released for everyone else to hear because there are some definite classics on there. This will change soon because they are currently preparing for it’s release and it will be worth the wait because the guys are really making sure to do this properly.

The shoot was early on a Sunday morning and with all the late night shoots and long days I have been having I really battled to get out of bed but once we started it just felt natural as always. My buddy Brendan joined us to film a behind-the-scenes video which I will add on here as soon as it has been edited.

Make sure to get your hands on a copy of their album when it drops but in the mean time make a plan to see the guys live if you get the chance.

27 July 2010 – Two weeks ago I had a photo shoot with the guys from Knock Out Kaine in a deserted council estate in Elephant and Castle.

The guys were super funny and an absolute laugh to hang out with which always makes for a fun working environment. They have been working hard on recording new material and I have heard a few tracks so I know it is alright to be excited at what is coming for them. The stuff is very cool and really catchy and its obvious that the guys have given it some proper thought and effort.
