19 November 2011 – I photographed the guys from A Day To Remember playing at the The Forum tonight.

It was the first time that I had seen them live but also crazily the first time I had heard any of their stuff.

Lighting was mental to work with but the set was tight and they honestly gave it balls. Would be amazing seeing them tour with Rise Against in the States.

04 October 2011 – Tonight was the 3rd time that I had seen / photographed the guys from Kids in Glass Houses and as with the other 2 times they had their set dialed.

I’ve heard quite a few people bad mouth their recorded stuff but if you get the chance to see them live then you’d be sold.

The stage setup was amazing covered with Neon strips and paint but obviously this only really came out after I was done shooting.

Try see these guys live at some point … they do it right. They have a new album out at the moment called In Gold Blood, get it, it’s good.

04 October 2011 – I went through a little earlier tonight so that I could make sure to catch Francesqa and I am super glad I did.

I’ve only seen them play one other time and it was huge then but they have definitely stepped it up since then. The guys are spot on and I definitely connect with their stuff. It’s mental that they are so young.

The lighting is always hard for opening bands but I tried my best and got a few of Ashley that I really like. The light was a mix of purple and blue and on some of the images in large the shadows they have cast make them almost look like they would be 3D (with those old 3D glasses on).

Make sure to check these guys out. They have a Deluxe Edition of their EP out now. Look it up.

16 September 2011 – Tonight I photographed the guys from Young Guns headlining their biggest London show at The Forum.

Unfortunately the stage lights blew towards the beginning of the first song which sucked because the guys had put a lot of time and effort into the design of the lighting set to make sure that it adds to the show. In saying this though the lighting didn’t matter in the end because the crowd were super excited and the guys handled it really professionally and just stepped everything else up a notch making the set HUGE.

I enjoyed the show loads and love seeing how far the guys have progressed as a band since I first shot photos of them. I do wish though that the lighting didn’t play up just because I have a feeling that the impact would have blown peoples minds. I can only be excited for the next time they play.

They have a new album coming out soon and I know it’s going to be a cracker.

These are a few of the photos I shot … in the dark. You’ll see that Simon never flipped me off (in excitement) for once. Haha.

14 June 2011 – Tonight I photographed Incubus playing at the HMV Forum.

This was the most full I have seen the Forum before and even though it’s quite a big venue it was an intimate show for the guys considering that they are as big as they are.

The set and show was super cool and the guys are super tight. Guitarist Mike was amazing to watch as rocked out with his giant pedal board … it’s always easy to appreciate talent.

Definitely a cracker show and everyone there will say the same. These are a few of my favourites from the night.

21 November 2010 – Tonight I was lucky enough to work with the Goo Goo Dolls and they are one of the bands that I have been into for as long as I can remember.

They’re also one of the bands that I can remember pin-pointing exactly the first time I heard a song of theirs. It honestly was a show I have been excited to see for ages and the fact that I was asked to shoot got me feeling super lucky.

The setlist was incredible ranging through classics through their entire catalogue. The guys also were really “cool” and seemed more excited than most bands I have seen over the years and they have been together for ages and have played loads of shows together. It’s great seeing passion and excitement like that.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this show and shooting it was good fun. There was a spotlight on Jon for the songs that I shot so he was definitely the main focus of the show during the time so most of my shots are of him although the band all added to the show. These are a few of my favourites from the set.

Make sure to try see these guys live if you can. Take a partner. It’s the perfect show for that.

11 November 2010 – Tonight I shot pics of Alexisonfire destroying (in a great way) the HMV Forum.

Last time I shot the guys playing was at a really small intimate show which was way overcrowded but one of the funnest experiences ever. I’ve been really looking forward to seeing them again since that time and tonight I remembered why. Three amazing and completely different vocalists mixed with huge sound and great song-writing … what’s not to like.

The security sucked tonight though and for the first time I was ready to “punch” someone for not knowing how to do their job and interfering with all of us doing ours. Aaaaaarrrrggggghhh. Haha.

Was amazing, will post a few more when I can after they are approved.

08 November 2010 – Tonight I photographed Less Than Jake rocking The HMV Forum in Kentish Town.

The sound was incredible and the show was perfect. Such a funny bunch of talented punk rock / ska playing guys.

19 June 2010 – I have been a long time fan of Johnny Clegg and have seen / photographed him perform more times than I can imagine but this only gets me more excited for each new time I get to see him and tonight was no exception.

The Forum was the fullest I have seen it to date with ever space filled to the brim and, as is the case with all Johnny shows, everyone was out to party and have a good time. It has been 30 years since Johnny started playing music so tonight was a celebration of that and the set was really long filled with a broad range of songs from his awesome collection.

It was a perfect show, besides a few sound issues at the start, and it was great to see a South African performer accepted so well in London …. even if the venue was filled 95% with South Africans.

This is quite a big set of photos but I just couldn’t resist.

19 June 2010 – Tonight I photographed Arno Carstens playing a few acoustic songs at The Forum and it was great.

I’ve been a long fan of Arno’s work and it’s been ages since I last saw him play and I was quickly reminded of what it is about him that I like. Even though it was an acoustic set Arno’s voice still dominated the full venue. He is just one of those guys that is meant to be a musician and his work is easy to appreciate as a solo unit or as a full band.

The lighting was quite dark and all blue but luckily the slow shutter didn’t matter because the guys kept pretty still while they played. Great show.

Arno is playing at The Borderline with support from his full band on Friday the 9th of July and I highly recommend you go and watch him if you aren’t already busy.
