30 June 2010 – Tonight I photographed Juliette Lewis at the super intimate Borderline which sadly is my worst place to photograph because its just way to small inside and there is just no space to move around. In saying that though it is one of my favourite places to see a band live and it’s hosted some of the best live shows I’ve seen.

Tonight was one of those perfect examples because Juliette is amazing, energetic and super passionate while she performs and it was great to see her in this intimate setting where she works so well.

I found a small space free just up by the stairs and never managed to move from there. The lighting is never the greatest here so these aren’t my favourites but I thought I would post a few of the ones that I am allowed to for now.

10 June 2010 – About 2 weeks ago I was contacted to shoot the debut UK show for The Damned Things and I had to first do some research as to who they actually were. I am always excited shooting but as soon as I checked their Myspace the excitement doubled (at least).

The band is basically a super group made up of members from Every Time I Die, Anthrax and Fall Out Boy which are all amazing bands that I really appreciate. My most exciting thing about it all is that vocally they are fronted by Keith Buckley (ETID) and I love his voice.

Tonight was also the first time that they were playing in the UK and one of their very first shows anywhere. They played The Borderline which is small but really special to watch bands especially of this stature and you could see that everyone there was just out to have a good night and consume the new project.

Lighting isn’t the best and without a pit / stage side it really is hard to get up close without making the show lame for someone else so I just stood where I could and made my way around the venue to grab some unobtrusive shots and document the show. I am not going to post them all on here just yet because I haven’t handed them over yet so until then, these are just a few. The show was absolutely incredible and I cannot wait for their recorded material to come out and even more to get to see them live again soon.

10 June 2010 – Tonight the support came from the guys of Panic Cell and it was the first time that I was seeing them live so I had no idea what to expect.

The guys were super nice and very relaxed and it seemed like a hang out session more than an intense live show although don’t get me wrong the guys know exactly what they are doing and their set was super good from what I caught. Sadly I arrived late so I only got to see a bit of them.

11 June 2009 – Alexisonfire played three really intimate and small shows at The Borderline in Soho and tonight was the last night of the 3 shows.

I went along to watch one of the best shows of my life but for different reasons to normal. These guys had almost too much energy for this small venue and the crowd went crazy in response to the show that they put on. I remember shooting with these guys just over two years ago and then I didn’t really enjoy the show much so I wasn’t expecting anything this time but they blew my perception right out of the water. This time they were incredible and I really felt what they were doing.

Their new album (Old Crows / Young Cardinals) comes out on 23 June 2009 and from what I have heard so far it is going to be a definite album to look out for. They have been given a lot of bad press because it’s been said that they have lost their screamo style but I find their new stuff a lot easier for me to relate to and I really like it. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy as it hits shelves.

Anyway, the venue was insane, PACKED full, REALLY low and SUPER dark and it was impossible to move around and I didn’t want to get trapped so I shot some photographs standing on a table to stage right. Luckily I had the use of my D3 because I could push the ISO level up allowing me to actually get some photographs.
