GO:AUDIO at Shepherds Bush

17 October 2009 – Tonight I joined the guys from GO:AUDIO at the final show of their tour at Shepherds Bush Empire.

I met the front man James on a photo shoot that I did for the new Criminal Damage catalogue (photos to follow soon) as he was one of the artists used as a model for it. He was a super nice guy to work with and we got to talking about their upcoming tour which just finished and he asked me if I would be down to join them on the final date in London so I did. I have worked with a lot of bands now and I still get excited when the guys are just down to earth and having a lot of fun doing what they do and these guys were another perfect example of this.

The crowd went completely insane during their set and I almost got worried that the ladies were going to go overboard and jump the barrier to raid the guys on stage. Hormones were running wild for sure and the guys didn’t let that allow them to lose focus and they all made sure to end their tour with an amazing show. I have never seen them play before so this was the first time and I look forward to the next time they play in London.

The lighting was really boring from a photography point of view which is a pity because this is normally my favourite venue to photograph live music at but for some reason it was just really dark and the lights just weren’t pointed in the right places at all. Luckily the guys had asked me to shoot so there was no 3 song rule and no stupid “you cannot use flash” rule so I made use of one of my trusty SB-800’s and just slowed everything down a bit to try and get some ambiance while just filling in with my strobe. This helped a bit but really it was just one of those nights so I did sit back most of the time to just watch what the guys were doing.

These are just a few of my favourites from the night. Thanks to James and the boys for looking after me and although I was feeling under the weather it was a definite good time
